Javonte Stubbs Wiki – Javonte Stubbs Biography

Javonte Stubbs was arrested in the murder of an Alabama police officer whyo was shot and killed in an ambush while taking a lunch break, authorities said Wednesday.

Stubbs was arrested overnight for the death of the Selma police officer Marquis Moorer and the injury of Moorer’s partner, Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said.

Marquis Moorer assassinated

Moorer was on duty and went home for lunch early Tuesday at an apartment complex where he lived when he was shot, authorities said. The shots were fired from outside, killing the officer and wounding the other person inside the residence at Selma Square Apartments, Attorney General Steve Marshall said.

Authorities have not released the name of the woman who was shot. She was hospitalized, but no additional information was available.

Javonte Stubbs arrested

District Attorney Michael Jackson said Stubbs was charged with capital murder and attempted murder after his arrest at Tuscaloosa apartments. He was taken to jail in rural Chilton County and is scheduled for a hearing Friday morning in Selma, he said.

Court records were not immediately available to show whether Stubbs had an attorney who could speak on his behalf. Jackson said that Stubbs was previously a star soccer player at Selma High School.

Mayor’s statement

Mayor James Perkins Jr. credited members of the public for sharing information with law enforcement and the State Bureau of Investigation in handling the case.

“The state stepped up and did exactly what it was supposed to do. The consequence is that within 24 hours there was an arrest, ”Perkins said at a news conference.
