Prior to his career with Detroit Lions, Harrington first played college football at the University of Oregon. After his largely unsuccessful career with the Detroits, Harrington played for the Miami Dolphins in 2006. In 2007, he signed a two-year $6 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons. In March 2008, he was released by the team due to a salary cap move. Seven days later he was resigned by the Falcons only to be released again in August of the same year. He also played for the New Orleans Saints from 2008-2009.
