Originating from Michigan, Carter Oosterhouse first gained his popularity after hosting Trading Spaces on TLC and other How To as well as Home Improvement TV shows. He also hosts two HGTV programs which are Red Hot & Green and Carter Can.

After finishing college, Oosterhouse moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and television. In LA, he worked as a tape coordinator and production assistant for the Project Greenlight.
